Water, Water Everywhere! will feature music inspired by nature’s waterways, performed on instruments that use water in small, hidden ways. The NHSO woodwind quintet will guide the audience on an imaginative journey from Handel’s “Water Music”, to a collection of “Sea Shanties” to music inspired by water itself. The entire audience will have opportunities to participate in the music making, and pre-concert activities will offer children and their families an opportunity to meet the musicians and try a few instruments.

Recycle, Reuse, Rejoice! is inspired by recycling and conservation, both in the environment and in music. The NHSO brass quintet will recycle musical themes, perform on recycled instruments and reuse household materials in fascinating ways. A surprise special guest will delight young and old audience members with ingenious ways we can recycle materials and help preserve the environment. The entire audience will have opportunities to participate in the music making, and pre-concert activities will offer children and their families an opportunity to meet the musicians and try a few instruments.

Whiz Kids! will feature the entire NHSO, conducted by Associate Conductor Jerry Steichen, with several student soloists ranging in age from 10-22. Soloists will be winners of the 2007-08 NHSO Young Artists Concerto Competition, drawing Connecticut’s most talented students of piano, strings and winds. The program will include music composed by some of the greatest child composers in history, including W.A. Mozart and Felix Mendelssohn, and may even feature an appearance by a 250 year old composer! Additionally, Woolsey’s Newberry Memorial Organ will be showcased; one of the finest instruments of it’s kind in the world. The entire audience will have opportunities to participate in the music making, and pre-concert activities will offer children and their families an opportunity to meet the musicians and try a few instruments.

Concerts are intended for children ages 3-12 and their families.
Programs are 55 minutes in duration.
Seating for Omni Hotel and Woolsey Hall are general admission.
Single Tickets: $12/adult; $5/child under the age of 18.
Series Discounts for all three concerts: $30/adult; $10/child.
