I am a varied visual artist and writer who was formally trained in painting, drawing and sculpture. It was not until I graduated from Manhattanville College in 1999 with a BFA, did I take a course in the art of stained glass. I’m also a published poet, sometimes drawing inspiration from my artwork. I have a tendency to incorporate a variety of artistic skills into my projects.

Each of my window designs are original and assembled using the Tiffany copper foil technique. The majority of my glass work is created using glass scraps and otherwise cast away materials; from the abandoned window panes which frame my designs to the marbles, crystals, stones, and various other found objects incorporated into my work. I seldom use a pattern, constructing each panel in stages, allowing the windows to grow and change until they’ve reached a completion. Due to this process, there exists only one finished window of each of my designs. Much of the glass used in my windows is antique and hand-blown giving them a sparkling, light-catching quality machine made glass does not possess. Some of the glass used in my windows is rare and no longer produced. I also employ the technique of plating in many of my windows, which is the layering of two or more pieces of glass, in order to create added dimension. I have recently begun to experiment with sandwiching bits and pieces such as crushed glass, copper beebees, photo negatives, etc., between two panes of glass. My stained glass artwork is ever evolving. Each piece I create leads me to my next, each producing different, but always intriguing results.

I am currently employed at Stained Glass Design and Restoration in Milford, Ct, where I produce custom work for clients from the beginning stages of designing to the finished product. In addition, I do repair and restoration work. I’m also similarly employed at The Glass Source in Shelton, Ct. I teach stained glass courses through Amity Adult Education in Woodbridge, Ct.
